I suppose that the term' coming out' has been bandied about for so long you actually forget there something of a process to go through...A few standard rebuttals.....the classic...I thought your were going to give me grandchildren
and the you're no son of mine...echo in the sensibilities of many young gay person.....imagine how it must be for us.
Now whether gay is proved to be biological,atmospheric,peer pressure,or in the water.....has never been proved to the satisfaction of any side taking the argument.....but
always there is the classic WHY......
Cheek aside I would like to pipe up with WHY NOT
But its a braver thing to do than most parents think....
I know we would all like to live in some paradise where parents were likely to respond with
thats nice dear....and into todays media frenzy....its somewhat expected.....but rarely happens.
Parents have a process too.....
But the disappointment should be pointed at human nature and not through any proactive parenting they have been involved in....
Step One....
Avoid the obvious........which generally is parents repugnance of the act of sex itself
and you might have a way forward....
but at the first hurdle.....No amount of role modeling tends to break the barriers
put up for their children.....
